Spending Freeze How and Why Part V

Spending Freeze Challenge Week IV

Whew, we have made it to the end of the preparation for our spending freeze. I am so excited to start my annual freeze on November 1. Are you all ready? If you need a recap, you can go to my previous four posts. Let’s get right to it, shall we!

5. Stop spending money for two weeks. It’s that simple. By now you should be ready to freeze your spending for the next two weeks. I know this is easier said than done, but I promise, if you follow the instructions you will be amazed at how much money you can save.

5. Focus on what is really important: Most people who participate in a spending freeze say the process opens their eyes to what’s important. When you aren’t spending money on stuff, your life gets a little more focused and you might spend more quality time with the people you love. Instead of masking boredom with an expensive dinner out, for instance, you could host a potluck with friends. Or instead of spending money on the latest mediocre Redbox release, you could get into the habit of reading good books from the library or start a tradition of family game nights.

Regardless, a spending freeze will put you in a more mindful, grateful frame of mind, which has consequences far beyond your checking account.

Since my husband and I are semi-empty nesters, we use this time to talk and set new goals and aspirations for the new year. We reflect on what went well so far this year, and what didn’t.

Okay, you know I want to hear from you! Are you ready for the next two weeks? Are you ready to stop spending and save more? Comment below and let me know.

If you haven’t joined my Facebook group, Pretty Money Crew, then you better hurry over and join. I am running a contest to see who saves the most money during this challenge. You have to be in the group to know what the prize is and to win. Happy freezing!
